This classic Sportster gas tank has been set up with a low "Frisco" tunnel to maximize fuel capacity and sit high and stylish on the backbone. Commonly referred to as a Peanut Tank,  It will give your chopper or bobber a custom look but still carry more than enough fuel to get you where you need to go. 1/4" NPT petcock mounted low and on the left to ensure every last drop of fuel is used.  This version maintains the stock shape and size as the Harley Davidson produced Sportster tanks from the '70s into the early 2000s.

Features:

  • 1/4" NPT petcock bung
  • Universal mounting tabs
  • 2.5 gallon capacity
  • Requires vented cam style gas cap sold separately 1010 or 1109

    Dimensions:
  • 15" long x 9" wide x 8" high
  • 17.5" long tab to tab
  • Tunnel:  2.25" wide x 1.5" deep (at the lowest point)

Disclaimer:
Tanks are pressure tested at the factory, but it is best to test again before you paint it.  Be sure fit of tank, mounting hardware, petcocks and gas caps are true prior to painting.  No stress is applied to the tabs when bolting them to the frame, this can lead to cracking of welds.  If needed, use leather or rubber washes to shim between the tabs and the backbone to ensure an even fit.  Do not sand seams or welded edges of gas tanks, if needed use a thin spread of body filler prior to painting.  Throttle Addiction warranties gas tank defects however we do not cover paint work.  Ensure your tank arrived damage free BEFORE you paint!

Frisco tank

Really nice tank. Was no burs in the metal and had good clean edges

Haven't pressure tested yet

But that being said it seems like some decent welds. A little rough here and there but no big deal breakers. It has some areas in the sheet metal that I should probably use some filler on or something, but I'm not building a show bike. Guess I'll find out for sure when I pressure test. Otherwise, it looks the part and has some capacity so I can ride further than to the next gas station. Shipped and delivered pretty quick too.
