Our Throttle Addiction weld on Sportster hard tail kit will transform your stock swing arm Sportster into a hard tail chopper in minimal time. The hardtail kit is designed to fit 1982-2003 Harley Davidson Sportsters.  It is constructed from 1-1/4" .120 wall steel tubing and 100% TIG welded.  The kit includes everything you need to complete the rigid transformation.  The benefit of hard tailing your Sportster is it allows you to keep a stock VIN, Avoiding difficult inspections and insurance issues that come with assigned identification numbers or "Special Construction" designations. The hard tail kit includes easy to follow instructions that can be completed by most anyone, however we recommend leaving the welding to the pros. 100% constructed in the U.S.A.

  • Fits 1982-2003 Sportster Models
  • 2" stretch
  • Machined rear motor mounts
  • 100% T.I.G. welded
  • 3/8" thick axle plates with Colony adjusters
  • 1 - 1/4” .120 wall steel tubing for superior strength
  • Rear brake mounts are included for use of 1982-2003 OEM rear calipers. 82-86 and 87-99 caliper brackets will need slight modification.

Includes:

  • Hardtail with fender tabs, battery mount, oil tank mounts, and brake mount installed.
  • Sissy bar 
  • Oil tank with internal battery mount intended for use with antigravity 12 cell battery
  • Battery hold down bracket and hardware for use with 12 cell antigravity batteries
  • 5" wide flat fender
  • Colony axle adjusting hardware

So nice!

I bought a sportster with plans of turning it into a chopper. Did some googling and found this kit along with the how to videos. I watched the video so many times and said I can do this. At first my intention was to take the project slow, enjoy the bike stock while parts started rolling in but throttle addiction had a chopper raffle giveaway and every purchase got you entries into the raffle! I figured I was going to buy the parts ANYWAYS might as well just pull the trigger, rip the bandaid off and start healing financially haha I get my chopper and hopefully win the raffle bike. Needless to say I didn’t win the raffle bike but all the parts started rolling in. Excitement was building. Started working on all the other little things they show in the video like the wire harness prepping, set up the bars on a table then the deluxe hardtail kit arrived. It’s so nice. The welds. The videos helped get me prepared that install was a breeze. Not only that, it’s my first build so any questions I had I reached out and the support team on this crew is amazing. Reached back out answering any questions I had. Overall great experience. These guys had it super easy.

Hardtail is great, customer support sucks.

Fortunately the hardtail is awesome and quality is top notch. Oil tank is killer too. Only issue I had was with the seat - it’s poorly designed, doesn’t fit, and even if it did, the mounting setup for it is useless. I reached out to custoemr support a couple times for help with it, and the net result was I’m on my own. Didn’t seem like they really cared or wanted to help. Not sure what I was expecting, but I’m definitely glad I didn’t have any bigger issues.
